How to pass your UK driving theory test?

The UK driving theory test is getting harder and harder to pass. Here are 4 ways in which you can ace your theory test in one go!

The UK driving test is divided into two parts; you need to first pass the theory test and then you need to clear the practical test.

Many people will tell you that passing the theory test is all a game of common sense; however, they can’t be any farther from the truth.

It has been noted that the pass percentage of the test has dropped to as low as 47% in 2019-20. It basically means that at least half the people who have taken the test, will fail.

Hence, it is not just a game of common sense and you need to be well prepared to ace it in the first go.

What is the theory test?

The main aim of the theory exam is to test you on your understanding of general rules, highway code and road safety. You will be asked 50 questions and you need to get at least 43 right to pass the test.

4 Ways to Ace Your Theory Test

MoneySuperMarket recently conducted a survey wherein they asked qualified drivers certain questions out of the sample questions shared by the DVSA. Only 11% were able to answer all the questions correctly despite the fact that they were all qualified drivers with years of driving experience!

This is why it is important to prepare well for the test and not just depend on your common sense to pass. Here are 4 ways to ace the test –

1.Prepare from good resources

The DVSA provides an official theory test kit which has a lot of useful material. Also, refer to the Highway Code as well. You can also find a wide variety of other resources such as study material, videos, graphics and more that can help you prepare well for the test.

2.Take a mock test

Taking a mock test is the best way to judge your preparation for the exam. You can get access to mock tests when signing-up with the DVSA for their official theory test kit or you can also sign-up for other such tests being held on other platforms online.

3.Involve family and friends

If there are people in your family who have recently passed the theory test, talk to them and seek their advice. They would be able to share some practical tips and tricks that could help you pass the test in the first go.

4.Keep your documents handy

Often people forget to carry an important document with them when going to the test centre and as a result they are obviously not allowed to give the test and also lose their test fee. Don’t be that person; ensure you have all required documents and put them together. Doing so will ensure that you are calm and collected on the day of the test.
